Honor Allentown’s 1980 arts and synonymous radio airwaves revolution by visiting downtown! This celebration is focusing on the 1978-1988 time period. Come enjoy the movement and see the creative minds of Allentown!

Three Locations

Events include exhibitions of art by 12 local artists! During June 14 –August 2, 2017, visit the  Martin Gallery in the Baker Center For the Arts, at Muhlenberg College. This exhibit includes local bands and radio broadcasts playing through a sound installation. A vintage poster collection of events from the era and a revolving slideshow will also be presented. The Baum School of Art will be holding contemporary works for the same artists during July 13-August 2, 2017. Finally, an Artist Panel Discussion by the Vision/Sound contemporary artists will be open for the public at The Allentown Art Museum on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 5 pm!

The Artists

The visual artists that put together these mind-blowing pieces of work had this opportunity for a reason. Art lovers can appreciate their works as it reflects the culture of the 80’s. The twelve artists: Linda Cummings, Ray Di Cecco, Mark Klee, Jessica Lenard, John Lotte, Frances Metcalf Weaver, Kenn Michael, Ted Ormai, Barnaby Ruhe, Barbara Tiberio, Jett Ulaner-Sarachek, Greg Weaver all represent the era in a creative way. Come check out all their inspiring, hard work at one of the exhibits! These guys need serious recognition!
