Hand Dipped Caramel Apples for Fall Recipes

This time of year is perfect for delicious treats. Don’t worry – you don’t have to spend your entire evening indoors when you’re in the mood for something sweet. Satisfy your taste buds with these quick and easy fall recipes.

Guilt-Free Caramel Apples

That’s right – you can have delicious candied apples without the regret! Check out these variations. They’re easy to make, but packed with tons of flavor.

You’ll need: 16 ounces of pitted medjool dates (about 40 dates), 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, 1/4 cup of coconut milk (add more as needed), 6 apples (honeycrisp or granny smith), salt.


Salted Rice Krispie Treat Apples:

2 cups of brown rice krispies, 8 ounces of dark chocolate (melted), flakey sea salt (for sprinkling)

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Apples:

2 cups of pretzels (crushed), 8 ounces of dark chocolate (melted)

Step 1: Take a food processor or high powered blender and combine the dates, vanilla, coconut milk, and a pinch of salt. Process the mixture until it is completely smooth. This should take about 10 minutes. (NOTE: The mixture should be thick, but spreadable. Add an additional tablespoon of milk if needed. If too thin, add a handful of dates.)

Step 2: Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Push sticks into the tops of the apples. Then, prepare your toppings to be spread onto the apples.

Step 3: Take one apple at a time and spread the caramel mixture you made onto it with a butter knife. Be sure to completely cover the bottom and sides of the apple. Afterward, press your desired toppings lightly all around the apple.

Step 4: Drizzle the melted chocolate over the apple, or dip the bottom of the apple into the chocolate. (Optional: Place the apples onto the previously prepared parchment paper and sprinkle with salt.

Step 5: Place the apples into the refrigerator and allow them to set. This should take about 25 minutes.

Step 6: Serve and enjoy! (These apples can store in the refrigerator for about a week).

Caramel Apple Cookies

This small treat has BIG flavor. They’re so delicious that you’ll keep coming back for more!

You’ll need: 1 package of refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts), 10 oz. apple pie filling, 5 oz. caramel topping, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of Nutmeg, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 egg

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then, spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray and set it aside.

Step 2: Dust your work area with flour and slightly roll out the crusts.

Step 3: Spread a thin layer of caramel onto one of the crusts. Then, take a knife and chop the pie filling into small pieces and spread it over the top of the caramel.

Step 4: Cut the other crust into 1/2 inch strips. Use the strips to create a lattice top over the other crust.

Step 5: Use a cookie cutter to cut out circles and transfer them to a prepared baking sheet.

Step 6: Beat the egg in a bowl until it is well blended.  In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Step 7: Brush the lattice tops with your egg wash and sprinkle them with your sugar mixture.

Step 8: Bake the cookies for about 20-25 minutes.

Step 9: Allow the caramel apple cookies to cool. Then, serve with a scoop of Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and enjoy.
