Those of all ages can enjoy a day of fun and learning at the local Da Vinci Science Center here in Allentown. Between the permanent exhibits and special events, you will find more than a day of excitement at this venue. While it is geared toward those with children under 12 years old, anyone with a spirit for fun will enjoy it. There are even special programs for other age groups as well.
Visiting the Center
You can visit the Da Vinci Science Center any day of the week, except certain holidays. On Mondays through Sundays, it opens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sundays, it opens at noon but closes at the same time as any other day. Admission is free for toddlers as well as members of either the DSC or ASTC. Everyone else pays $12.95. Or, if you come in a group of at least ten, admission drops to $9.50 per person. If you plan on visiting on a weekday, the Da Vinci Science Center suggests you visit after about 2 p.m. since school groups will be there before this. Because of this, families should consider visiting between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. for fewer crowds. Or, you can visit the center with your child between two and six years old on Mondays between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for Little Learner Activities.
Your kids will want to come to the Da Vinci Science Center multiple times considering all the exhibits that will grab their attention. The PPL Electric Utilities Energy Zone teaches them about energy. Wave Power! is a water tank measuring 16 feet long that shows kids how ocean waves’ kinetic energy becomes electricity. Older children can show their ability to design and build with KEVA Build It Up! Children in preschool will love Engineers On a Roll, which combines climbing, an engineering lab, and a playscape. Preschoolers will also appreciate the Deer Park Water Table. Other permanent exhibits worth checking out include the Newton Chairs, the Pin Wall, Marine Tank, Animation Station, Quakes and Shakes Seismometer, Hurricane Simulator, Tunnel Vision, and more.
Attend a Special Event
If you want even more from the Da Vinci Science Museum, you can find fun inside at one of their special events. There are regular family sleepovers that include an evening with hands-on activities, time to check out all the exhibits, a live science show, and the sleepover itself. One is coming up on Feb. 9, so consider registering now before spots run out. Adults may want to look into the Science Social Club on Feb. 15.
