Great for small fun car
By blk_mx5_fla | on Thursday, November 16, 2017
Traded in my 2001 Civic for MX5 after I kicked the kids out of my house. Small, economical fun car. Very enjoyable to drive, even at legal speeds. Works well for 25mi commute. It does not get cold here, so I dont need to worry about snow, cold. Havent driven it in August, so I dont know how bad it would be to drive with sun beating down and 95F. Comments on comments Noisy: If you want a quiet car, get a Buick. Cup holders: If you want usable cup holders, get a minivan Storage and such: If you want storage, see comment on Cup holders. I havent rated reliability, Havent had the car long enough. Three nits: Golf clubs and trunk, yeah right! They do fit in the passenger seat though. AC control. When I turn the knob to full cool, the AC automatically turns on. I just want it to vent cool outside air when the top is down. Windows, When the windows are up and the top is raised, the windows lower to 2/3, therefore I have to close the windows fully after I put the top up. Recommendation is only for friends who want a small fun, sporty car.… - 5.0
Best Car I've Ever Owned
By Derek | on Monday, November 09, 2020
It is like driving a go-kart to work everyday. I have really enjoyed the smile factor of this car. There is just no other way to describe this car except as "FUN!" The dependability, fuel mileage (I get around 34MPG) and the affordability of tires and maintenance is the icing on the cake! I wouldn't trade it if you were to give me a free Corvette. It may not be as fast on acceleration but it sure makes up for it in the curves. It's actually very difficult to describe this car here...you just need to drive one for a day! I highly recommend getting the 6 speed manual transmission and the Club Package which cuts out all the frills and adds Bilstein Suspension and a Limited Slip Differential. You will also find a strong community of loyal followers who love to help support other owners and organizing group weekend "Fun Runs" through the twisty roads.… - 5.0
Seriously Fun
By dez | on Sunday, June 03, 2018
I was leasing a 2014 MX5 as a daily driver when the new 2016s came on the market. I had seen it at the unveiling in Monterey and didnt expect much, since the look is getting away from what I think of as miata. I was won over at the test drive. It is lighter than the 2014 so the handling was so much cleaner. The car seems to just get down on corners and stick to the road--ultimate fun. The front end has an exotic shark look that actually stopped traffic at a 4 way stop. truth. The 2016 has Skyactive on it, and truly this car gets better mileage than previous versions. I think it is less about the weight than the fact that using the instant mileage, one can see that the slightest change of pressure on the gas can increase mileage by 20-40 mpg.I use the car daily and really only found one complaint--the cup holders. There are two, but one is not usable. There really needs to be 2 cup holders. I have a Grand Touring, but I started out years ago with a sport 2001. I would just as easily recommend the sport as the Grand Touring. These cars are great!…
