If you're like many drivers in the Allentown, Bethlehem, and Emmaus areas, you're probably a big fan of crossover SUVs like the Mazda CX-5. This popular vehicle class offers the kind of maneuverability you can expect from a sedan while still offering plenty of cargo and passenger space on the inside.

One of the area's most popular models in this class is the 2019 Mazda CX-5, so our team at Scott Lot Pre-Owned created this review, in which we'll discuss some of our favorite features.

2019 Mazda CX-5 Performance Review

When you're considering an SUV, you want it to be reliable and highly drivable, but you also want a hefty kick from the powertrain. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 delivers on all three.

It comes standard with the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L I-4 engine that delivers 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. In addition to offering a lot of power, this engine also keeps you efficient with its cylinder deactivation technology.

Cylinder deactivation reduces your engine from four cylinders to two when it doesn't need to work as hard-like when cruising on an open highway.

If you need even more power, you can upgrade to the available SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L turbo I-4 engine that generates up to 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines are paired with a SKYACTIV®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission that keeps your shift schedules efficient and maximize performance. If you prefer to have more control over your drive from time-to-time, you can engage manual-shift mode and change gears on-demand.

The Mazda CX-5 Interior

Inside the Mazda CX-5, you'll find two rows of seats that can accommodate a total of five passengers while still providing enough trunk space for 30.9 cubic feet of luggage. Need even more space? Fold down the back seat and you can bring along 59.6 cubic feet of cargo.

For added comfort, the front-row seats have an available heating feature that can keep you cozy on frigid winter mornings. They also have available ventilation to cool you down after returning to your car in a hot parking lot.

Front-and-center in the cockpit is the 7-inch full-color floating touchscreen display that comes as part of the Mazda Connect™ infotainment system. With this system and standard Bluetooth® smartphone connectivity, you can easily stream music and answer incoming phone calls without taking your hands off the wheel.

Mazda CX-5 Safety Technology

When many drivers shop for their next vehicle, they, understandably, make safety a top concern. The good news is so does the Mazda CX-5. In fact, it offers several safety technology features standard, including:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Smart City Brake Support

Additionally, when you upgrade to the Touring trim and above, you'll have Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go as a standard system that can help you traverse long highways during your next road trip. This system works by automatically adjusting your cruise control speed to a safe following distance when you approach slower-moving cars on the highway.

High Beam Control is standard on this trim level, as well. With this feature, you can focus more of your attention on navigating when driving in low-visibility conditions while. This system automatically toggles your high beams on and off based on the flow of oncoming traffic.
